Sima Shakhsari

Sima lives in the San Francisco Bay Area where she has worked and/or studied for the past thirteen and a half years. Sima's activism includes working in different capacities with women's, immigrant and refugee rights, and queer organizations in the U.S. Currently, Sima is working on her Ph.D. in Cultural and Social Anthropology at Stanford, exploring issues of gender, sexuality, and nationalism as they are implicated in imaginations of the Iranian diaspora. Sometimes, when she feels brave, Sima dares to read what she calls her poetry at public events.
