Bassam used the character Trans Libano on GayLebanon mailing list during spring and summer 1999 in order to add a queer voice to a predominantly gay list.

Trans Libano is a pre-operational male-to-female transgender living in Corsica after she left Lebanon. She was the advocate of bisexuality on GayLebanon list, where she also raised gender identity issues. Some list members loved her sense of humor, while others hated the way she tackled sensitive issues like sexuality and religion. She believes that incorporating religious figures in our daily activities, like our writings or sexual fantasies, is not a blasphemy: it is just a way to make them more human, thus closer to us.
